Well, it's one of those times of the years. You know, one of those times when the media just gets what it wants? The one story that helps them keep the show running and everybody else antagonized to such an extent that they have to be hosed off.
Yeah, the Delhi rape incident. It's good that you're showing how much you care people, but why NOW? What happened to this dedication and compassion when all the others before this happened? Are the victims of those crimes not to your tastes to support, to post statuses about, or to even post those god damn 'LIKE' pictures?!
Although, I agree there are anomalies to this. There are some people who genuinely feel compassionate and relate with the incident, who are sick and tired of these acts and want to do something about it. But all of that is lost in the myriad of sympathy-fakers and facadists.
To top it off the Media makes it all worse. They're slowly but surely trying to create a mass hatred of the Indian Government. People should understand that any upheld Law will have its fair share of Breakers. I've seen people posting messages about bringing Saudi laws to India, and they think that it would actually do good. Wrong. It might be an alternative for the time being, but soon enough people would find ways around it. Hell there are cases even in Saudi that people don't even know of. To put it simple, if you tell a kid that he can't have his candy, what is the first thing he does? (Now I'm gonna give you some time to let that sink in, answer the question in your mind a couple of times)
If such a law is enforced upon the people, it would tip the scales at an enormous magnitude. Right to the point where, a girl would have the power to accuse an innocent guy of rape, and his death forced upon him without even a trial. Where is the 'equality' that we were all trying for a while ago?
Now I'm not being sexist here, but if there are men who do wrong, then it is fair to motion that there are those in the opposite gender as well.
The decision that is to be made, should suffice for the short and the long run as well. But a death sentence is far too easy a way out for the perp, a second, is all it takes and he would hardly feel a thing. I believe that, a life-time of imprisonment and a rather 'un-sedated' extraction of their manhood would do a lot good than estimated. Allowing them to wallow in guilt as the rats they are and rot in the cold cells without a chance of seeing daylight. That's what we need right now. The sickest alternative there is.
You know, based on circumstantial evidence.
